The auction for this 11.11.11 Dear Jack Benefit poster signed by Andrew McMahon, Kevin “Clutch” Page and Brian Ireland of Something Corporate ends TODAY at 8PM EST/5PM PST. The poster is number 7/150 and 100% of the proceeds from this auction benefit Team Dear Jack Foundation at the 2012 Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walks.

In regards to the future of this blog...

While many of you have sent the sweetest and most supportive messages in my absence (I want you to know that I have read and appreciate all of them), I regret to inform you that I do not intend to return to making regular posts on this blog. In the months that I have taken off, it has become clear to me that my time here is a thing of the past. While I enjoyed all of the time I spent here and all of the conversations I’ve had and the friends I’ve made, I think that as I am on the verge of graduating college and embarking on the rest of my adult my life (thus diminishing my free time), this blog is destined to become a fond memory from my past. [Plus, based on my Andrew McMahon tracked tag, it appears that there is a surplus of new Andrew-related blogs out there ;)]

However, with last year’s incredible success, I do wish to continue fundraising for Team Jack’s Mannequin/Dear Jack Foundation and hopefully break the $2,000 threshold. As I know many of you have realized, my name is Lindsay Watts [platformfire.tumblr.com] (sorry to shatter the illusion for anyone who enjoyed my anonymity). I will be selling wristbands and Jack’s Mannequin/Something Corporate memorabilia again this year to raise money.

My first project is a set of bracelets with lyrics to one of my personal favorites from People and Things, “Keep Rising.”

As always, these bracelets are available on eBay and come in one standard adult size at $5 each. However, this year, there will be a $2 shipping charge for domestic orders as well (with the volume of orders I received last year, offering free shipping cut severely into the proceeds). I am going on hiatus. The only things I’ve continued to post have been questions which seemed pertinent, and since I had made a claim that Jack’s Mannequin would be returning to Europe, I thought it would be appropriate to substantiate it. The audio post I just made is tagged “#one last song of the day #because this feels like a good place to end.” I apologize for any confusion or ill feelings.

It brings me great sadness to announce that Caldecott Tunnel is being put on an indefinite hiatus.

I feel terrible doing this because it hardly seems fair that everyone gets punished for the hatred of a few, but I don’t know what else to do. I started this blog with the purpose of meeting other fans who share the same love of Andrew McMahon that I do and to have fun. Recent comments and accusations made by a few people have destroyed that, and I feel that running this blog is not the right thing for me to do at this time.

This blog has been open for nearly fourteen months, and in the past few, I have received a disheartening amount of hate mail calling me rude, mean, a bitch, creepy, a bad person, etc. It’s not fair to me to sit here and wonder as I’m posting something if this will be something that will cause someone to get me at me, or when my next piece of hate mail will come, nor is it fair for anyone else to have to read such comments. I put enough time and effort into running this blog and making it interesting that having people sit there and tell me what a bad job I’m doing and how rude I’m being makes me feel like I’m just wasting my time.

As much as I appreciate the love and support I get from most of you, it’s the negative comments that hit me the hardest. For every 100 positive comments I get, it’s the one comment saying that I’m rude that really resonates. It’s been fun while it lasted, but now I just need to take some time to evaluate if I think it is worth continuing.

I hope you all can understand and support this decision.

I don't understand where these people are coming from. I've never seen you rude to anyone and you never gave out a link for Katie's Facebook and you always answer questions and give out download links for stuff that they want. And keeping your identity anonymous doesn't seem like a big deal. This is a JM/SoCo/Andrew McMahon blog, not a personal blog.

I really don’t understand any of it. It’s kind of sad that people have nothing better to do than attack other people.

You told people where to search for Katie's FB account, though, there fore you did give them the permission to creep her. If you hadn't said something otherwise, people wouldn't be writing in saying you're creepy and rude, which you are. You may have a good blog, but that doesn't mean that the person behind it is good. You're a bitch, and I know who you are so please stop/

Warning, this will be an opinion. This should not have any influence on your own opinion, nor should it be taken to heart.

That’s another song that I’m iffy on. Sometimes I’ll be listening to it and I’m just like “Oh my God, this is so good, where has it been all my life?” and other times I listen to it and I’m just like “eh, let’s skip this one..” Orphans is another that has to catch me right.
